Garamond Font Free Windows 7
I work for a company which uses Garamond 12 as its standard font-face and font-size. We produce our documents in Word 2010 (on Windows 7 boxes) as either.docx or.doc files, and then save them as pdfs before sending them to clients. We have a large quantity of standard documents that we use on a regular basis.
Last week, every time I open a.doc or.docx file, the font appears to be larger than it used to be; that is, the text no-longer matches up with our pdf documents, and our page-breaks are now all in the wrong place (e.g. Two lines into a new page). The font is still listed as Garamond 12, but it just takes up more room. How do I get back to the old version of the font (if that is indeed the problem), and how to I prevent this from happening again.

It will take a lot of work to get around this issue otherwise. This is a known problem with HP LaserJet printers, which come with the Garamond Antiqua font and its variants (that is, installing the printer using its driver disk installs those fonts). This font appears to be internally labeled Garamond and is tacitly substituted for 'ordinary' Garamond when printing to that printer.

This is especially problematic when the font is actually resident in the printer. I ran across the same problem (in the other direction) with a PowerPoint presentation I created on my desktop system (which uses the LaserJet printer and has Garamond Antiqua installed). The PPT theme used Garamond as its default font. When I transferred the presentation to my laptop, many of the captions broke incorrectly, though in this case it was that the regular Garamond was taking more space than Garamond Antiqua. Does the text no longer line up. I am assuming that you are in Print Layout view. It usually isn't noticeable, but Word sets up how text is displayed according to the current printer driver. Garamond's types were, in turn, based on those used by Aldus Manutius in 1495 and cut by Francesco Griffo. The italic is based on types cut in France circa 1557 by Robert Granjon. Garamond is a beautiful typeface with an air of informality which looks good in a wide range of applications.
