I had trouble with this too- start by breaking the egg (do a spin attack on the tail). This will release a giant Dino-Piranha- keep running in circles around it to avoid it. It will easily catch up with you if you go in straight lines. Make the circles tight enough that you can catch up with its tail.
When you are close enough, spin (shake the Wii Remote) to hit it- it will fly away from the planet and jerk back, hitting its owner, like it did when you used it to break the egg at the beginning. Do this again to send it into a rage that will speed it up a bit. Don't worry- the same strategy will allow you to hit it a third time (fourth if you count breaking the egg) that will kill it, and give you a star. Tell us some more.
